Short Profile

Dr. Titus Adedeji Adeniyi, the fifth substantive Registrar of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), assumed office on November 1, 2024, following his appointment by the University's Governing Council on October 9, 2024.

Born over five decades ago to Pastor and Deaconess Gabriel Abioye Adeniyi in Ilesa, Osun State, Dr. Adeniyi's educational journey started at The Apostolic Church Primary School, Ipetumodu, from 1975 to 1981. He then attended C.A.C. Grammar School, Isale Ola, Ipetumodu, for his secondary education, earning his School Certificate (GCE/SC) in 1987. Afterward, he moved to Minna, Niger State, to join his parents, where he completed a preliminary programme at the Federal School of Arts and Science, Suleja. Motivated by his passion for teaching, he enrolled at the Federal College of Education, Kontagora, graduating with an Upper Credit in Mathematics and Economics, and earned his Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE).

In 1991, Dr. Adeniyi gained admission to the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, to study Demography and Social Statistics, graduating in 1997. He completed his mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) at the Kaduna Water Corporation from 1998 to 1999. His interest in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) led him to pursue a Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Science at the Federal University of Technology, Minna, which he completed with an Upper Credit in 2001. Returning to OAU for his Postgraduate degrees, he earned a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in 2008 and a Doctorate (Ph.D.) in 2021. Further broadening his global perspective, he is also an alumnus of the Galilee Institute of Management, Israel, where he obtained a Certificate in Higher Education in 2015.

Dr. Adeniyi began his professional career as a Mathematics teacher at Fakunle Comprehensive High School. He transitioned to university administration twenty-five years ago, joining Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, as an Administrative Officer. Known for his hard work, dedication, and humility, he was initially posted to the Personnel Affairs Unit, where his commitment and integrity quickly distinguished him. This exemplary performance earned him the management's trust, leading to a critical redeployment to the Admission Office. There, he navigated the challenges of the manual admission process, ensuring smooth operations and upholding the office's integrity while working closely with the Admission Committee to conduct the first post-UTME examinations seamlessly in 2005.

In 2007, Dr. Adeniyi brought his extensive experience to Osun State University (UNIOSUN) as a pioneer staff member. His proven track record from LAUTECH led to his appointment as the university's foundational Admission Officer, a position he held with distinction for six consecutive years. In this role, he established a robust and enduring framework for the admissions process that continues to serve as a benchmark. Over his distinguished career at UNIOSUN, he also served as a Faculty Officer, College Secretary, and Deputy Registrar, ultimately heading the Directorate of Human Resources and Development as Director—a position he held immediately prior to his current appointment. In addition to his administrative duties, he contributed to academia as a part-time lecturer in the Department of Statistics and at the Centre for Advanced and Preliminary Studies.

His expertise has been recognized through membership in several professional bodies, including the Association of Nigerian University Professional Administrators (ANUPA) and the Association of University Administrators (AUA) UK. He is an accomplished presenter who has delivered papers at international conferences and has visited countries such as the United Kingdom, Israel, Germany, Ghana, Kenya, and The Gambia. From 2019 to 2021, he served as a member of the Governing Council of Osun State University, representing the Congregation, where his contributions were highly commended. He has also served as a member and secretary on numerous Council committees and panels, including his role as Assistant Secretary to the State Committee on Repositioning Tertiary Institutions in Osun State in 2016.

A devoted gospel minister, Dr. Adeniyi was the Coordinator of the UNIOSUN Christian Fellowship (Chapel of Light) at the time of his appointment as FUNAAB's Registrar. He is happily married to Ruth Olubunmi Adeniyi, a lecturer in the Department of English and Literary Studies at Osun State University, Osogbo, and the couple is blessed with wonderful children.
