FUNAAB 109 inaugural lecturer, Prof. Olayide Rasaq ADETUNJI hailed from Okuku, the headquarter of Odo-Otin local government, Osun State. He is from Balogun’s compound in Okuku. He attended St. Theresas Roman Catholic Methodist Primary School, Odesanmi via Ile-Ife between 1970 and 1975. He proceeded to Inisa Grammar School, Inisa, Osun State in  1975. He passed out with Division One Distinction in his WASCE result of 1980.  He gained admission to study to University of Ife, Ile-Ife, Nigeria in 1982 and he graduated in 1987 with first class honours degree in Materials and Metallurgical Engineering. He proceeded for his Master degree in the same department after a year of mandatory National Youth Service. He obtained Master’s degree in Materials and Metallurgical Engineering in 1991.

He joined Midland Galvanizing Products Ltd. Abeokuta in 1991 where he worked for over twelve years and rose to the position of Deputy Manager Operations. He had the opportunity of being sponsored for a management programme for Technologists in Bangalore, India between September 1994 and May 1995. He later moved to another multinational engineering company (Lafarge Africa Ewekoro Plant) to further his career in 2002. He was transferred to Lafarge, Shagamu plant in 2003.  He got registered as professional engineer with Council for Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) in 2003. He worked in various departments like Production, Maintenance Planning and Inspection at Managerial level. He attended cement professional course in Northampton, United Kingdom in 2003.  He joined academic and research work in 2008 after gaining employment as lecturer II in the department of Mechanical Engineering of University of Agriculture, Abeokuta Nigeria. He was awarded Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering in October, 2012. He was promoted to the post of Senior Lecturer in October 2014, Associate Professor in October 2017 and full Professor in October, 2020. He was a visiting lecturer to Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ibogun Campus between 2019 and 2021. His research interests include; Corrosion Engineering, Novel Materials and Machinery Development, and mass Production, Energy Materials and Nanotechnology.

He has a patent application was filed at National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion office through the directorate of research, innovation and partnership (DRIP) due to high performance of 60Zn40Al galvanic anode. His research work is well cited with citations of 915, h-index of 18 and i10-index of 28. He has Research Interest Score of 2,260.6 on Research Gate as at February, 2026.He has supervised over eighty five undergraduate students, eleven postgraduate diploma students and twenty three master degree students as at January, 2023. He has supervised six Ph.D students five of which are in area of Corrosion and Materials Engineering, and one in Design and Production Engineering.
