Oluwatoyin Ruth Akinbande is Technologist in the Department of Hospitality and Tourism, Federal
University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, where she serves as a Food Chef supporting practical instruction
in the food and hospitality curriculum. Her responsibilities include assisting technologists during
practical sessions, preparing raw materials for demonstrations, organizing and maintaining laboratory
equipment, and ensuring the laboratory is kept in a clean and functional state after each session.
She holds a Higher National Diploma and a National Diploma in Home and Rural Economics from
Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igbo-Ora, alongside a National Technical
Certificate from the National Business and Technical Examinations Board. Her academic background
in Home and Rural Economics under pins her practical expertise in food preparation, hospitality
service, and laboratory management within an academic training environment.
Her career at the university has progressed through a series of laboratory support roles, including
Laboratory Assistant, (food chef) Senior Laboratory Assistant, (food chef) Principal Laboratory
Assistant, (food chef) Higher Assistant Technologist, (food chef) senior higher assistant technologist
(food chef) before attaining her present position as technologist. This progression reflects sustained
institutional service and growing responsibility in supporting practical food science and hospitality
training for students.
Beyond her university duties, she is engaged in community service as Public Relation Officer for the
Good Women of Gospel Apostolic Church at its Asero headquarters and as Coordinator of the church's
Camp Branch, roles that draw on her organization a land welfare-oriented skills. She has also
participated in a Workshop/Retreat for Non-Teaching Staff on University Ethics, Culture and Service
Delivery, reflecting her commitment to professional development within the university system.
Her work centers on bridging theoretical instruction and hands-on culinary and hospitality practice,
ensuring students in the Department of Hospitality and Tourism receive well-organized, safe, and
effective laboratory experiences.
