Mr. Sunday Ayodele Akinbola is a Senior Chief Laboratory Technologist at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), with extensive professional experience in laboratory technology, analytical chemistry, environmental chemistry and technical staff administration. He currently serves as Deputy Director, Directorate of Technologists and Technical Staff, a position he has held since 2025. He also serves as Head of Laboratories in the Department of Pure and Applied Chemistry.
Mr. Akinbola holds a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Chemistry from Lagos State University, a Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in Analytical/Environmental Chemistry, a Higher National Diploma (HND), a National Diploma (ND), and other professional and technical qualifications, including certificates in Computer Literacy and Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry. He is an Associate Member of the Nigeria Institute of Science Laboratory Technologists (NISLT).
His career at FUNAAB spans several progressive positions, from Science Laboratory Technologist II to Senior Chief Laboratory Technologist. He has also served as Technologist-in-Charge of Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry at the Environmental Management Centre, as well as a part-time lecturer and technologist in university programmes. His professional experience also includes service with Ogun State Water Corporation and the National Youth Service Corps.
He has contributed to university administration and community service through various assignments, including membership of the FUNAAB Quality Assurance Committee, Chairman of the DITTECS Farm Management Committee, and other professional and community leadership responsibilities.
Mr. Akinbola has published research works and conference papers in areas relating to analytical chemistry, environmental quality, toxic elements, aquatic systems, microplastics and agricultural production. His publications include articles in national and international journals, demonstrating his continued contribution to scientific and environmental research.
