Dr. Abiodun Solomon Akinbule is a Vegetable Scientist and Research Fellow at the Institute of Food Security, Environmental Resources and Agricultural Research (IFSERAR), with a joint appointment as a Lecturer in the Department of Horticulture, College of Plant Science and Crop Production, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB). He holds a B. Agric., M. Agric., and Ph.D. in Horticulture (Vegetable Science) from FUNAAB.
He is ambivalent in both field and greenhouse cultivation of vegetable crops such as peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, melons, and sweet potatoes, with strong dexterity in hydroponics systems. Dr. Akinbule manages advanced glasshouse research facilities and oversees multi-crop field trials aimed at enhancing crop productivity, resource-use efficiency, and food security. His technical expertise extends to biostatistics and computational data analysis in R for complex agronomic and physiological datasets.
A dedicated researcher and academic, he actively collaborates on high-impact national agricultural research projects, including TETFUND-sponsored tomato biofortification initiatives and multi-institutional crop evaluation trials. He is a member of the Horticultural society of Nigeria, Agricultural Society of Nigeria (ASN) and Organic Agriculture Professionals in Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria (OAPTIN). Through his research, teaching, and mentorship, Dr. Akinbule is committed to advancing sustainable agricultural technologies and training the next generation of agricultural scientists.
