Short Profile

Dr Akinola Olufemi Sunday was born in Somolu, Lagos of Nigeria on the 10th of September, 1972. He attended Omole Grammar School, Ikeja (1985-1991). He holds Bachelor of Agriculture, in Animal Science (1993-1999), Masters in Agriculture in Non-ruminant production (2002), and Doctor of Philosophy in Monogastric Animal Production (2011) from the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta.

He was a Farm Manager in Nu-breed farms Limited (2003-2004), and later as Feedmill supervisor in Obasanjo farms Nigeria Limited in a Ten-Tons-per hour capacity unit (2004-2005). In 2006, he quit his job to face his PhD, which was partly sponsored by Alexander-von-Humboltfoundation,Germany.

During his PhD programme, he was employed as assistance lecture in the Department of Animal Production and Health, University of Agriculture, Abeokuta,in the year 2008. Currently he holds the post of a Senior Lecturer.

Dr Akinola, is a member of the World poultry association, Nigeria branch, Nigerian Society of Animal Science, Animal Science Association of Nigeria and a member of Nigerian Institute of Animal Science.

He currently the college representative in the ICTREC board. He is also the current chairperson of the Pig management technical committee (PIMTEC), FUNAAB.

His main research interests are in non-ruminant animal production systems and nutrition; and the adoption of Agro-industrial by-products in animal feeding with aim to reduce animal production cost, with particular emphasis on pigs.

Dr Akinola has over 35 articles in local and international learned Journals including proceedings, with paper presentations in many scientific conferences in and outside the shore of Nigeria.
