Short Profile

I, Emmanuel Olalekan Akintona, was born about 58 years ago in Kaduna (now Kastina
State). I obtained my first degree in Philosophy from the prestigious University of Lagos
with second class upper division in 1995. I had my Master and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.
D) Degrees in Philosophy from the premier University, University of Ibadan, in 2000 and
2008 respectively. I won the University Scholar Award, two times, at my undergraduate
level at the University of Lagos in 1990 and 1991. I was the best graduating student in the
Department of Philosophy in 1995 at the University of Lagos. I have since 2002 joined
the academic train as a lecturer, and rose through ranks to the position of Professor in
2020. I teach philosophy in the Department of Philosophy at the Olabisi Onabanjo
University between 2002 and 2011, and later transferred my service to the Federal
University of Agriculture in 2011. I have supervised over 120 undergraduate students and
about 15 postgraduate students. I have 41 publications to my credit in both local and
international Journals. I have also attended many Conferences both within and abroad. I
am presently an external examiner to the Department of Philosophy, University of
Ibadan. My area of specialization is Epistemology, and my other areas of competence are
Philosophy of Mind and Logic. I presently teach logic and History of Science at the
undergraduate level, and other core Philosophy courses at the postgraduate level of
Professional and Applied Ethics at the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta in the
Department of Communication and General Studies.
