Emmanuel Olalekan Akintona is a distinguished Nigerian Professor of Epistemology at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB). He is a holder of B. A. (Hons), Second Class Upper Division, Lagos in 1995; M. A. and Ph. D, Ibadan, 2000 and 2008 respectively. He has a Diploma in Computer Data Processing from the Ogun State University (now Olabisi Onabanjo University) in 1989. He belongs to the Class of 1982 graduate from the historic Baptist Boys' High School (BBHS) in Abeokuta.
He joined the train of academics in 2002 in the Department of Philosophy, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye as a Lecturer II staff and transferred his services to the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta in 2011. He rose through the ranks to become a Professor of Epistemology in 2021. He teaches Logic and other related courses at the undergraduate level and core philosophy courses at the postgraduate level in the Department of Philosophy and Leadership Studies, Institute of Communication and General Studies (ICGNS), FUNAAB till date.
He has supervised over 200 students both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the University. His research primarily utilizes conceptual analytic tools to study epistemology, critical thinking, the philosophy of mind, ethics, and traditional African socio-legal structures. He has attended several conferences both within and outside the sores of Nigeria. He has about 50 publications to his credit in both local and foreign journals, conference proceedings and books. He won many distinguished awards to his credit which includes University of Lagos Scholar Award (1990 and 1991); Digital Communication Technologies in Teaching and Learning Champion, College of Agricultural Management and Rural Development (COLAMRUD) FUNAAB, 2017. His area of specialization is Epistemology and other areas of competence include Philosophy of Mind, Logic and Applied Ethics.
He is a member of the Nigerian Philosophical Association (NPA), the National Association of Teachers and Researchers in English as a Second Language (NATRESL), Nigerian Philosophical Association (NPA) and International Society for African Philosophy and Studies (ISAPS).
