Dr. (Mrs.) Abosede Akintunde was born on Sunday, 12th August, 1973 to the family of Mr. Joseph Babalola and Mrs. Felicia Adeleye Ayeni at Ilesa, Osun State. She is a devoted Christian and member of Deeper Life Bible Church. She attended St. Paul Anglican Primary School, Onikolobo, Abeokuta, Ogun State between 1980 and 1986 for her primary school education. She proceeded to Abeokuta Girls’ Grammar School for her secondary school education between 1986 and 1992. She then proceeded to University of Agriculture, Abeokuta for her tertiary education between 1993 and 1999. She bagged her Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematical Sciences (Statistic Option) in 1999, Masters’ Degree in Statistics in 2009 and Doctor of Philosophy in Statistics in 2016 all from the same University. She graduated as the best students in the Department of Mathematical Sciences in 1999 and was recognized as such by the University.

She worked as Mathematic teacher at Taidob College between 2002 and 2005 where she taught Mathematics at both ordinary and advanced level. She joined the service of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta on 29th September, 2005 as a Planning Officer II in the Academic Planning Unit of the University and had her appointment confirmed on 29th September, 2007. She rose through the ranks to the post of Planning Officer I on 1st October, 2008, and Senior Planning officer on 1st October, 2011. She later joined the Department of Statistics as an Assistant Lecturer on 3rd December, 2012. She was upgraded to Lecturer II on 5th January, 2017 after the completion of her Ph.D. programme and was promoted to the post of Lecturer I on 1st January, 2021.

She served in various Committees in and outside the Department. She served as Secretary to many Academic Planning Committees as Planning Officer some of which include Mock accreditation Committees, Secretariat member of the Academic Planning and Curriculum Committee, Ad Hoc Committee on University Academic Brief, just to mention a few. As an academic staff, she served as the Examination Officer, Secretary to Departmental Board, Member of the Departmental Welfare Committee in the Department. She is currently the Chairperson of the Departmental Welfare Committee and a member of the University Time Table and Examinations Committee (TIMTEC).

Her research interest is in stochastic processes and time series analysis. She has nineteen (19) journal articles and one (1) conference proceeding in both local and foreign journals to her credit. She has attended conferences, workshops, trainings and seminars to enhance her teaching and research capabilities. She is a member of the Royal Statistical Society, International Biometrics Society and Professional Statistician Society of Nigeria.

She is happily married to Dr. Oluyinka Akintunde and the marriage is blessed with two boys, Goodness and Favour Akintunde.
