Short Profile

Dr Akintunde Olukayode had his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and MSc in Biochemistry degrees from University of Ibadan and Ph.D Biochemistry at Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta. He has good knowledge of Poultry production due to his exposure while working in foremost poultry industries in Nigeria, like Avian Specialist and CHI LTD Ajanla farms both in Ibadan. He joined the service of Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta as a Veterinary Officer in Veterinary Teaching Hospital on January 2, 2008. He performed excellently well in the Poultry Unit. He was employed as a Lecturer in the Department of Veterinary Physiology and Biochemistry, teaching Veterinary Biochemistry. Dr Akintunde research focus is using medicinal plants to ameliorate environmental toxicological effects of drugs and chemicals in animals, with nutritional biochemistry knowledge to improve the public health in man and animals. He specializes on use of immunohistochemistry technique for his evaluation studies. He learn this technique as a visiting scholar in the Department of Pathology, University of Georgia, Atlanta USA. He has 22 journal articles published in both local and international peer reviewed journals. He was promoted to the post of Senior Lecturer in 2023. He was on sabbatical leave in Department of Veterinary Physiology and Biochemistry, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Ilorin, Nigeria, from December 2024 to November 2025.
