Short Profile

Mrs Margaret Ekpo Aliyu was born on the 2 nd of October 1980 to the family of Engineer and Mrs Ekpo in Calabar, Cross River State. She began her education at Calabar preparatory international nursery and primary school and Edgerley Memorial Girls Secondary School in Calabar. She studied at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Enugu state where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in English Language. She went further to obtain an M.A degree in English from the University of Ibadan, Oyo state. She is currently running her PhD programme in Communication Studies at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta. Mrs Aliyu has had a variety of working experiences as a subject teacher in some secondary schools in Abeokuta, Ogun state. She joined the services of the federal university of agriculture, Abeokuta in 2019 as an assistant lecturer in the department of communication and general studies. She teaches Use of English (GNS101) and Writing and Literary Appreciation (GNS201) to the undergraduate students. She has an article (Lexico-semantic analysis of hate speech in electioneering campaigns in Nigeria between 2015 and 2019) published in the Lagos Notes and Journals, a journal of the faculty of arts, University of Lagos. She has also co-authored an article (Language and arbitrariness) published in the English Language Teaching today, a Journal of the National Association of Teachers and Researchers of English as a Second
Language(NATRESL). She is a member of English Studies Association of Nigeria (ESAN). Her hobbies are writing,
reading and travelling. She is married with children.
