Short Profile

Dr. Adetayo K. Aromolaran is an expert in agricultural extension, rural development and livelihood studies with an interest in capacity building, transfer and uptake of agricultural innovation for sustainable rural development, livelihood improvement and environmental management among rural smallholder farmers. He has a special focus on agricultural land,  food, water, technologies and environmental issues as it affects the rural system, lives and livelihoods. He is currently a lecturer and researcher at the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta Nigeria. He was involved in stakeholder participation to enhance drought resilience through Reinforced Indigenous Knowledge and Smart Tools for Socially-Just Water Management in Ogun River Basin by Dutch Government -Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands Grant (2023). livelihood vulnerability to climate change and variability: A gender analysis of Forest Communities in Omo Biosphere Reserve, Ogun State Nigeria funded by Institution Based Research/Tetfund (2022), Social Impact Assessment for the proposed Abeokuta International Airport Wasinmi Ewekoro Ogun State Nigeria in 2019. Increasing Performance of the Cassava Industry in West and Central Africa (IPCI) with funds from the International Fund for Agricultural Development in 2018 and also participated in Feed the Future Nigeria Livelihoods Project sponsored by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Catholic Relief Services (CRS), and U.S. Government’s Global Hunger and Food Security Initiative in 2017. He won the Wadhwani Foundation US/India Entrepreneurial Scholarship in 2018. He is a Mashav Scholar, trained in Israel on building sustainable communities sponsored by the Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs and United Nations Environment Programme in 2016. He is one of the key actors in the Value Chain Development of Capacity Building in Agricultural Education in Nigeria (CBAEN) project in collaboration with Bern University of Applied Sciences Switzerland 2015. He attended training on Effective Extension Service Delivery in Nigeria by the Agricultural Media Resources and Extension Centre (AMREC) in 2014. He won The Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) Award in 2013 used in Cumberland Windsor the United Kingdom and a grant by Global Cassava Partnership to present at a conference on Innovative value addition for cassava wastes in Kampala Uganda in 2012. He also participated in the mapping of Soybean Production and Processing Areas sponsored by PrOpCom, a DFID-affiliated organization in 2007.Institutional Capacity for Designing and Implementing Agricultural and Rural Development Policies and Strategies in Nigeria, sponsored by the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) in 2009. He coordinates and facilitates Extension Practices of the Community-Based Farming Scheme which creates synergies between the university, agricultural trainees and agrarian communities for idea exchange for agricultural livelihood improvement. Social Impact Assessment as part of the Environmental Impact Assessment for the proposed Abeokuta International Airport Wasinmi Ewekoro Ogun State Nigeria by Government of Ogun State completed in February 2019
