Dr. (Mrs.) Babalola Opeyemi Antoinette is a Civil Engineering researcher and lecturer with a strong interest in sustainable infrastructure development, materials engineering, and the innovative use of recycled materials in Civil Engineering applications. As part of her academic achievement, she was a recipient of the World Bank Africa Centre of Excellence Scholarship, which supported her Phd studies in Highway and Transportation Engineering at the Regional Transportation Research and Education Centre (TRECK), Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi Ghana. Her research focuses on converting agricultural, industrial and post-consumer waste into useful construction materials, thereby reducing dependence on conventional resources while addressing waste management and environmental challenges. She has conducted research involving materials such as palm kernel shell, crumb rubber, steel slag, palm oil clinker, high density polyethylene, pulverized agricultural residues, and other alternative materials for applications in soils, concrete, and flexible pavement. Her research approach combines laboratory experimentation with materials characterization and performance evaluation to establish the engineering suitability of these alternative materials. In addition to conventional experimental methods, she has developed an interest in Design Of experiments (DOE), Response Surface Methodology (RSM), Design Expert, and Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning as tools for improving research efficiency and materials optimization. As an educator, Dr. (Mrs.) Babalola is committed to developing students’ understanding of fundamental civil engineering principles and their application to real world engineering problems. She teaches Civil Engineering courses including Introduction to Civil Engineering, Engineer in Society, Civil Engineering Materials, Strength of materials, among others. She is a Registered Member of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), as well as the Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN). Dr. (Mrs.) Babalola remains committed to contributing to the advancement of Civil Engineering knowledge and to developing sustainable materials and technologies capable of addressing contemporary infrastructure and environmental challenges.
