Short Profile

Dr. Opeyemi Bolajokois a nutritionist with a specialisation in clinical nutrition and dietetics. She holds B. Sc. in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka; M. Sc. and Ph.D. in Nutrition and Dietetics from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria. She ispresently aLecturer in the Nutrition and Dietetics Department,Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, with a research focus in nutrition-related non-communicable diseases and research extension.

Her works revolve around designing interventions to increase adherence to dietary changesand positive health outcomes with emphasis on community engagement in the control of metabolic diseases and cancers among patients, using information and communication technology.She has been involved in community-based researches exploring food systems, factors that determine food consumption of different age groups, nutritional status, and how these predict health outcomes. Sheis also part of the Prostate Cancer Transatlantic Consortium (CaPTC) Cohort Study team working on the Transatlantic Prostate Cancer Familial Project among US black men and West African black men.

Her due diligence in research has earnedherseveral scholarships and awards Research award for Training in Behavioural Intervention Trial for Cancer Prevention and control in West Africa. (US NIH/National Cancer Institute (NCI) – CRDF Global funded ABeR Catalyst Research Immersion program. Mayo Clinic, United States) 2021-2022. The Micro Enterprise Social Entrepreneurship Grant Award (2021). The Orange Knowledge Program (OKP) Fellowshipto attend a short course on Food Systems and Sustainable Diet (Wageningen Centre for Development Innovation (WCDI) and Wageningen University and Research, Wageningen, Netherlands) (2019). Cancer of the Prostrate Transatlantic Consortium (CaPTC) African Behavioral Research Scholar (ABeR) (2018-2019). Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) sponsored the benchwork of her Ph.D. project (2017-2018). Africa Nutrition Leadership Program Fellowship Award (ANLP) (2016). Dufil, Prima Nutrition Postgraduate Scholarship Award sponsored her Master's programme (2010-2012). Prior to joining the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, she was a lecturer at the Nutrition and Dietetics Department, Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, Ondo State.

She has served in many committees within the University and public bodies.Dr. Bolajoko is a member of the Nutrition Society of Nigeria and the Institute for Dietetics in Nigeria (IDN). She is the Assistant General Secretary of IDN and the National Representative of the Institute in the International Confederation of Dietitian Association. She has attended some training programmes and workshops both nationally and internationally and has several publications to her credit.
