Short Profile

Prof. Fafiolu, Adeboye Olusesan joined the services of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta as an assistant lecturer in the year 2005 after completing his M. Agric. Degree programme in 2003. His involvement in teaching at FUNAAB had allowed him to be instrumental in the development of curricula in the field of Animal Science. He was instrumental in the redesign of the website and the e-learning platform in FUNAAB. Through the development of innovative curriculum, quality teaching, and strong industry linkages, increased enrolment and interest of many students in all the programmes had been achieved. He has actively engaged his students using the latest innovation in teaching and stimulating interest and this approach are allowing students to have better grades. His teaching experience has allowed him to work with a range of people in the light of his career. Dr Fafiolu had led my University in building successful developmental courses, internships for student and faculty, experiential learning and personalised instructions for improved learning.

Research and innovation

Prof. Fafiolu’s research interest revolves around the evaluation of feedstuffs and its improvement using innovative technologies. He had proposed and used exogenous enzymes, chelated minerals and other means for improved utilization of unconventional feedstuffs. In the course his research efforts, he has attracted several donor funds which were managed successfully. He competed for national and international donor funds and successfully won several of such funds. Dr Fafiolu has a total of One hundred and twenty (120) publications in print both at local and international reputable outlets with high impact. He participated in running many research teams as a principal or co-investigator. He is particularly motivated in judicious management of donor funds running into several billions of naira with great success. He mentored and still mentoring many students as evident in the number of students supervised at different levels of engagements. Dr Fafiolu is a good team player as he had participated in many local, national and international professional engagements with high level of success.

Quality Assurance

He has taken leadership roles in both national and international accreditation efforts and his involvement and contributions assisted the University to earn national and international accreditation for higher education (the first by any public University in Nigeria). He has served in many University Committees that advanced curriculum development and reviews, built and maintained course schedules, and worked with private organisation/industry to advance teaching and learning by students. He had severally supported staff development efforts in much public organisation in Nigeria and engaged in community development activities.

National and international engagement

Prof. Fafiolu currently serve as the national secretary of the World’s Poultry Science Association (WPSA) Nigeria Branch. His activities at helping to solve national problems and maintaining the quality of feed and feed inputs for livestock husbandry had led to my engagement with the National Agency for Food Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC).

Students Management

Generally, he have an understanding of how best to take care of student needs. He had worked as chairman, hostel management committee in FUNAAB and also a member of the Student welfare committee in the University.
