Dr. Oluwasegun Olamide Fawibe is a Senior Lecturer and researcher in the Department of Pure and Applied Botany at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Nigeria. His primary areas of specialization are plant physiology and agro-environmental sciences. He holds a Ph.D. from Chiba University, Japan, which he obtained as a recipient of the Japanese MEXT Doctoral Scholarship.
Dr. Fawibe has participated as both a team leader and team member in several funded research projects, contributing to various aspects of research, including conceptualization and study design, data collection and analysis, and report writing. His research focuses on addressing the challenges of sustainable food production under changing climatic conditions and limited water availability through climate-smart and resource-use-efficient agricultural practices.
His work explores the application of film mulching and soil organic amendments for improved crop management, as well as the use of Internet of Things (IoT)-based technologies for the precision application of agricultural inputs in drip-irrigated cropping systems. Building on this experience, Dr. Fawibe is increasingly interested in the application of remote sensing, non-destructive phenotyping tools, digital technologies, and data-driven approaches to better understand crop responses to environmental stresses and enhance resource-use efficiency.
His research goal is to integrate knowledge of plant physiology with innovative agricultural technologies to develop practical, climate-smart solutions for sustainable and resilient crop production.
