Short Profile

Caroline Oyindamola Filani (Ph.D.) is a motivating, talented and experienced Entomologist and a Lecturer at the Department of Crop Protection, Federal university of Agriculture, Abeokuta, with over ten years’ experience in academic, research, leadership, mentorship and administrative skills. As an innovative thinker and inspiring Entomologist, she has developed and conducted experimental studies with insect pests of cereal, fruit and vegetable crops in both natural and controlled environments. She teaches both undergraduate and postgraduate entomology/Crop protection courses as well as supervise entomology projects.  Dr. Filani research interest includes insect pest management, insect systematics, insect ecology and biotechnology. She has publications in peer reviewed national and international journals on vegetables crops (watermelon, golden melon, tomato, okra cucumber) and cereal (maize ad rice) and work on the management of fruit and vegetable crops insect pests using integrated pest management.

Dr. Caroline belongs to professional bodies such as Entomological Society of Nigeria (ESN) and Nigeria Society for Plant protection (NSPP). She is a member of The Nigerian Association of University Women (NAUW). She has supervised B. Agric. and co-supervised M. Agric. and Ph. D. research works. She had her first, masters and doctoral degrees from the prestigious Federal university of Agriculture Abeokuta.  She enjoys using her skills to contribute to the exciting agricultural and technological advancement in the entomology world. While in school, She earned the awards for my exemplary academic performance and leadership skills. Aside from her academic pursuit, she also counsel and mentor graduate youth.
