IDOWU, Olusegun Mark Obafemi

Short Profile

Professor Olusegun Mark Obafemi Idowu an indigene of Ado-Odo, Ogun State was born on 2nd October, 1965. He attended Methodist Central School and Alamuwa Grammar School respectively for his primary and secondary educations, all in Ado Odo.  He is a distinguished Scholar and Alumnus of the   Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB). He is indeed a thorough bred FUNAABITE having obtained his B. Agric (Hons), M. Agric.  and PhD. in Monogastric Animal Nutrition from Department of Animal Nutrition, FUNAAB.

Professor Idowu joined the services of FUNAAB as a Graduate Assistant in May 1997 and progressed to become a Professor in October, 2014.   His administrative and academic experience traversed the length and breadth of the University system, having acted as Acting Head of Department of Animal Nutrition, Member of University Senate, Member of Senate Business Committee, Chairman-University Central Timetable Committee and Member of University Statutory Committees such as Academic and Curriculum Planning, Senate Coordinating Committee on Examination Results (SECOCER), to just mention a few. He was the Pioneer Coordinator for Foundation Science Programme, in the FUNAAB- Institute for Human Resources Development.  He has various trainings in Open and Distance Programme. His stint for e-learning, open and distance education and learning technologies prompted his participation in several capacity building programmes locally and internationally. He was appointed as the Pioneer Director of FUNAAB Distance Learning Centre, 2015 - 2019.

Prof. Idowu is an icon of repute and has published 60 articles in learned Journals, 20 articles in Refereed Conference Proceedings and Commissioned Organic Poultry Projects. He has supervised over 100 undergraduate students, 35 MSc/M. Agric students and 10 PhD students.   A recipient of so many prizes, honours, grants and commendations nationally and internationally recognized among which are DelPHE Research Grant and EDULINK ACP-EU Co-operation Programme - Training Scholarship.

He belongs to many professional and academic associations such as Nigeria Institute of Animal Science, Nigeria Society for Animal Production, Nutrition Society of Nigeria, World Poultry Science Association among others.

For Professor Idowu, he is not only an achiever in his chosen secular career, he is also a community leader in his home base, Ado Odo, Ogun State, Nigeria and the General Overseer of Ecclesia of Bible Faith, Abeokuta.
