Prof. (Mrs.)
Prof. Oluwakemi Titilayo Irekhore is seasoned extension personnel with over 24 years’ experience as Faculty Member at the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta (FUNAAB). She has basic training in the area of monogastric nutrition but collaborates in research and technology dissemination in a wide range of disciplines including non-ruminant and ruminant animal production, crop production, organic agriculture, gender issues, and rural livelihood among others. She teaches and supervises undergraduate and post graduate students at the Department of Animal Nutrition of the University. She also encourages and enhances the participation of youths in agriculture and builds their capacities for different agricultural enterprises. She pioneered the Agriculture-in-Schools Programme in year 2007 and the Organic-in-Schools Programme in 2023. She has worked on several national or international projects including the United States Presidential Emergency Programme for AIDS; Cassava: Adding Value for Africa Project (CAVA I and CAVA II); West Africa Agricultural Productivity Programme; Institutional Gender Mainstreaming Project, and the Knowledge Centre for Organic Agriculture and Agro-ecology in Africa Project. She belongs to a number of professional bodies including Nigerian Society for Animal Production, Animal Science Association of Nigeria, Nigerian Institute of Animal Science, Agricultural Extension Society of Nigeria, International Society for Tropical Root Crops, Association of Organic Agriculture Practitioners of Nigeria (NOAN), and Organic Agriculture Practitioners in Tertiary Institutions of Nigeria. She is the Pioneer Chairperson of Ogun State Chapter of NOAN. She also served as a Mentor under the African Women Leaders in Agroecology Mentorship Programme, Nigeria Cohort I. She is an advocate of safe and sustainable food systems.
