Prof.
Professor Salami Olasunkanmi Ismaila is an enthusiastic Professor, a dedicated and skilled teacher with more than 15 years of experience in teaching Industrial and Mechanical Engineering courses with a focus on raising students’ attainment and learning needs. He has 15 years of corporate work experience before joining the academia, specializing in ergonomics, safety, and product development. Effectively utilizing strong interpersonal, communication, and hands-on demonstration skills to present concepts clearly and increase student understanding. The experience of working in the industry for 15 years comes in handy during course delivery.
He began his academic journey with a National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (with Distinction) from Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, in 1986. He later earned his BSc (Ife, 1990), MSc (Ibadan, 1999) and PhD (Ibadan, 2006) degrees, building a strong foundation in engineering principles.
Prof. Ismaila has made significant contributions to research, with over 89 journal publications. His work focuses on applying ergonomic principles to improve workplace safety, reduce occupational hazards, and enhance human-centered design in industrial and agricultural settings. Key areas include noise exposure effects, musculoskeletal risks, and safety in manual tasks.
He has delivered his inaugural lecture at FUNAAB and maintains an active presence in academic networks, including ORCID, LinkedIn, and scholarly databases. Recognized as a leading expert in his field, he also engages in mentoring and knowledge dissemination, including topics on engineering ethics and professional practice in Nigeria.
Prof. Ismaila remains a prominent figure in Nigerian engineering education and research, committed to advancing safer and more efficient technological applications.
