Short Profile

Dr. Idayat Ayoka Kareem is a Forest Resource Economist. She obtained her doctorate degree in Forest Resource Economics and Management from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) in 2015. Before this, she had her first and second degrees in Agricultural Economics and Farm Management in 2001 and 2011 respectively from the same institution. She bagged a Postgraduate Diploma in Education degree from Usman Dan Fodiya University, Sokoto in 2006. She also had online training in IT essentials and Networking from Cisco in 2007; AWARD Scientific Writing and Publishing Skills Course in 2019.

Dr. Kareem has a mastery of her subject matter specialization and a passion for sustainable forest resource utilization. She also enlightens farmers on agroforestry practices of economic benefits. Dr. Idayat Kareem commenced her academic career as an Extension Fellow II at the Agricultural Media Resources and Extension Centre (AMREC) and anchored in the Department of Forestry and Wildlife Management, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta on August 1, 2019.

She has served in various capacities at the university and is presently the Programme moderator in the Media and Farm Broadcast Programme, and also a committee member of AMREC Media Work Display.

Her research focuses on promoting and encouraging profitable cultivation and marketing of non-timber forest resources as a means of sustainable livelihood in both rural and suburban areas. She teaches Forest Economics, Urban Forestry, Forestry Extension and Education, and Socioeconomic Aspects of Agroforestry at undergraduate and Postgraduate levels respectively.

Dr. Kareem has successfully supervised twelve undergraduate students, and one master's and currently supervising seven undergraduates and two master’s students. She has fifteen publications in national and international journals and three refereed conference proceedings to her credit and attended conferences, trainings and workshops in Nigeria.
