Short Profile

Dr. S. O Kareem is a Reader in the Department of Microbiology, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Nigeria. He bagged Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology in 1998and Master of Science in Food and Industrial Microbiology in 2002. He obtained his Doctorate degree in Industrial Microbiology at Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta in 2009. In2005, he joined the service of FUNAAB as lecturer II and rose to the rank of Lecturer 1 in 2008.In 2012 he was promoted to the post of Senior lecturer and Reader in 2015. He has served as the Deputy Dean College of Bioscience and as a member of University Senate (2015-2019). He is also an external examiner to some Universities. He is a member of Nigerian Society for Microbiology and Society for Applied Microbiology, United Kingdom. He has supervised many postgraduate students. His areas of research interest include biosynthesis of novel antibiotics, industrial enzymes, bioelectricity, biodiesel, bioethanol and organic acids using microbial technology. He has more than sixty publications in both national and international journals. He has attended many national and international conferences in Microbiology and related Sciences.
