Short Profile

Prof. Iyabode Kehinde is a Professor of Plant Pathology. She bagged a Ph.D. degree in Plant Pathology from the University of Ibadan in 2008.

Prof Kehinde was the Head of Programme, Foundation Science Programme at the Institute of Human Resources Development (INHURD), FUNAAB from 2010 to 2014 and Pioneer Head of programme, Cambridge 'A' Levels ins the same Institute from 2012-2014. She became the Pioneer Head, Department of Pure and Applied Botany, a position she held for two terms (2014 - 2020). She was later appointed Director, Academic Planning Unit of the Institution in February 2020. She is the first female to hold this position.

Prof Iyabode belongs to many professional bodies which include The Nigerian Society for Plant Protection (NSPP), Botanical Society of Nigeria (BOSON), American Phytopathological Society (APS). She is a member of the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD) and The Nigerian Association of University Women (NAUW).

She has attended several conferences, both local and international and won several fellowships. She has several publications to her credit published in reputable national and international journals. She has supervised many B.Sc., M.Sc. and PhD research works.

  1. Efficiency of some botanicals for disease control of African Yam Bean (Sphenostylis stenocarpa) in South Western, Nigeria.

  1. Mycoflora associated with fifteen varieties of stored seeds of Sesamum indicum and their effect on nutritional value
  2. Effect of seed sorting and biopesticides on fungal infection and seedling vigour on fifteen varieties of sesame (Sesamum indicum) seeds.
  3. Antifungal activities of some plant extracts on seed germination and fungal infection of sesame.
  4. Field diseases of African Yam Bean (AYB) (Sphenostylis stenocarpa).
  5. Storage diseases of African Yam Bean (AYB) (Sphenostylis stenocarpa) and their effect on nutritional value.
