Dr. LAWAL Wasiu Olayide, is presently Head, College Library Services ’Nimbe Adedipe Library, Federal University of Agriculture (FUNAAB), Abeokuta. He had Diploma in Library Studies from Department of Library, Archival and Information Science, University of Ibadan in 1990. He graduated from Department of Foundation and Educational Management, Ogun State University (Now Olabisi Onabanjo University), Ago-Iwoye in 1997. He obtained his Masters Degree at the Department of Library, Archival and Information Science, University of Ibadan in 2001. He obtained his Ph.D degree at the Department of School Library and Media Technology (Formally Center for Educational Media Resources Study) in 2019.

Lawal joined the services of Ogun State University, University Main library as Library Assistant in 1985. After completion of his Diploma programme, he was given Acting Library Officer in 1990 and later appointed as Library Officer in 1991.

Lawal was appointed Assistant Librarian/Graduate Assistant in 1999 (Academic Librarian / Staff) and was upgraded to Librarian II in 2001 after completed his Master Degree Programme in Library and Information Science, University of Ibadan.

He has similarly served as Head, Technical Services Division (2007-2009); Head, Readers’ Services Division (2010-2012) and Acting University Librarian, University Main Library (October – November, 2011) Olabisi Onabanjo University.

Lawal was on Sabbatical at the Main Library, Fountain University as Visiting Senior Librarian / Acting University Librarian (May 2009 – October, 2010).

 

Lawal transferred his services from Olabisi Onabanjo University to Federal University of Agriculture (FUNAAB), Abeokuta in February 1st, 2012 and was appointed as Principal Librarian / Senior Lecturer. Since then, Lawal has served in many capacities as the Chief Cataloguer / Head, Cataloguing Department now Technical Services Department (2012-2014), Institute Librarian, Institute for Human Resources Development (INHURD); Head Serials Section, Head Readers’ Services Division and presently Head, College Library Services.

Lawal had received many sponsorships, Honours and Conference Grant. He was the first staff from the University Main Library, to be sponsored for Diploma programme in Library Studies 1988-1990 and Master Degree programme in Library and Information Science, University of Ibadan (1999-2001). He also received Long Service / Meritorious Service Award by Ogun State University, Ago-Iwoye in 2006.

He equally received Conference Grant by Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) to attend 2nd  International Conference on Academic Libraries (ICAL 2013) held at Guru Gorbind Singh Indraprastha University, New Delhi, India in 2013.

He had experience in Teaching, Research and Community Services. He have conducted researches and published on various types of Library Services, Public, School, Special / Private and Academic Libraries and their Components – Users Studies, Electronic Information Resources Usage, Preservation and Conservation Studies, Management.

He has also been teaching courses on the subjects at the Masters level in the Department of General and Communications Studies, College of Agricultural Management Rural Development (COLAMRUD).
