Short Profile

Logunleko Mariam graduated from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta Nigeria
where she had her Bachelor's Degree and Masters in Animal Physiology. She is currently a
PhD student in Veterinary Sciences at the University of Bristol, United Kingdom.
Mariam joined the services of the University in 2019 as a Graduate Assistant in the
Department of Animal Physiology. She is now an Assistant Lecturer and her role includes
teaching, research and undergraduate supervision.
Her research is focused on promoting animal welfare and productivity through improved
managerial practices. She has expertise in chicken husbandry and handling, welfare
assessments, heat stress management and semen evaluation. Her ongoing research is on
“parental effect on chicken welfare and food sustainability”.
Mariam belongs to different professional bodies both in Nigeria and the U.K. including the
Nigerian Institute of Animal Science, the Nigerian Society for Animal Production, the British
Society of Animal Science and the Animal Welfare Research Network
