Ayobami Oludele Makinde was born on the 22nd of June, 1984 in Abeokuta, Ogun state.
His parents are Muyiwa Makinde and Olabowale Makinde. He hails from Akinyele local
government area of Ibadan, Oyo state. He began his elementary and primary education at
Temitope nursery & primary school, Ibadan before proceeding to Loyola college, Ibadan for his
junior secondary education and thereafter to Wesley college of science, Ibadan for his senior
secondary education where he had his senior school certificate in 2000. He later proceeded to
University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) where he obtained his first degree as a Doctor of
Veterinary Medicine (DVM) in 2010. He had his second degree, Master of Veterinary science
(MVSc) from the University of Ibadan, Ibadan in 2015. Ayobami is currently working on his Doctor
of Philosophy (PhD) at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta.
Ayobami Makinde is a Lecturer in Veterinary Surgery in the department of Veterinary Surgery
and Theriogenology, College of Veterinary Medicine, FUNAAB and also a Registrar at the
Veterinary teaching hospital, FUNAAB. He joined the academic community as a lecturer II in the
department of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery, College of Veterinary Medicine, FUNAAB in
2017 and was promoted to the position of Lecturer I in the department of Veterinary Surgery and
Theriogenology in 2020.
Ayobami’s research focuses on food/large animalsurgery and lameness, gastrointestinal surgery,
gastroenterology and gut microbiome research, as well as surgical diseases of the reproductive
systems of large animals. He is currently working on a study of the effect of surgically induced
torsion and detorsion on tissue oxidative stress, testicular blood flow characteristics and
functions in West African dwarf bucks. He has contributed academic articles to both referred
local and international Journals and Conference Proceedings.
Ayobami Makinde has served in various academic and administrative positions within the
University and contributed immensely to the larger society. He is a member of some Professional
bodies including Veterinary Council of Nigeria, Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association, and
Physiological Society, UK.
