Short Profile

‘Segun OLADOYE is a Professor of Forest Ecology and
Conservation in the Department of Forestry and Wildlife management, Federal University of
Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State. He is the immediate past coordinator, Part Time Degree
Programme for the University (2018-2022), and currently head, Quality Assurance Unit and
Coordinator, FUNAAB Transport committee. He holds a Doctorate degree in Forest Ecology and
Conservation, Masters of Forest Ecology and Conservation, Bachelor of Forestry and Wildlife
Management and National Diploma (ND) in Forest Technology in 2012, 2006, 2002, 1997 from
the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta and Federal College of Forestry, Ibadan respectively. He
is a seasoned academic with up to 16 years’ experience in the area of biodiversity assessment and
conservation, Forest Inventory, Quantitative Ecology, Modeling, Biomass and carbon stock
estimate.
Segun Oladoye joined the services of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta Nigeria in
June 2007 as Assistant Lecturer and promoted to the rank of Professor in 2022 with over fifty
publications both locally and internationally, He has since gathered and improved on his
experience in the afore mentioned area. At the moment, Professor Oladoye is currently
conducting research on Trees and Stand Models in Lowland Rainforest, Nigeria, Flora
Biodiversity Assessment and Production of Flora Compendium for National Parks in Nigeria and
has been involved in a number of project, Including TETFUND sponsored project in 2012 and
Participation in National Forest Carbon Inventory Exercise Sponsored by Food and Agricultural
Organization of the United Nations (FAO-UN) in collaboration with Nigeria’s UN-REDD+
Secretariat.(2018). He has attended conferences, workshops and seminars both locally and
internationally in countries like Israel, China, Kenya, and Ghana.
As a PhD student, he got the Chief S.L. Edu memorial research grant administered by Nigerian
Conservation Foundation (NCF) to the tune of ₦500,000.00 and currently on research grant
sponsored by TETFund to the tune of ₦21million. He is also a recipient of MASHAV
fellowship,
Professor Oladoye is member of many professional bodies, on the social level, a member of
Rotary club of Obantoko, Abeokuta, District 9110 and also a movie maker who has directed and
co-directed over 40 titles since 2002.
Professor Oladoye’s key skills and competencies include; dedicated team player even in a
culturally diverse environment, Excellent leadership, negotiation and managerial skills for goal
realization, Effective presentation and inter-personal communication skills, Proficiency in

Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Project, Visio) and Excellent analytical
skills and proficiency in the use of SAS, SPSS, EasyFit, CurveExpert, PAST and R.
