Prof. (Mrs.)
Olayinka, Oluwafunmilayo O is a Professor of Analytical and Environmental Chemistry in the Department of Environmental Management and Toxicology, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State Nigeria. She obtained her first degree in Chemistry from Ondo State University Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria now Ekiti –State University. She holds M.Sc and Ph.D degrees in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. She also had a Certificate in Industrial Effluents Treatment and Residuals Management from the Institute for Water Education, UNESCO – IHE, Delft, Netherlands. She is a recipient of Netherland Fellowship Programme (NFP). She received the University of Ibadan Postgraduate School Award in 2009 and also won National Research Fund (NRF)Tetfund Grant 2020. She has about two decade of academic experience comprising of teaching, research and training of students. She has attended some conferences related to areas of her interest and also served in several committees. Her research areas of interest are analytical and food chemistry, environmental pollution, toxicology, hazardous substances, health risk assessment and environmental analysis of organic pollutants and endocrine disruptors such as nonyl phenol (NP), bis phenol A (BPA), phthalate esters and heavy metals in river, water, soils, air, food, sediment, fish, electronic waste, plants, beverage and their impact on the environment and health. She was appointed as the acting head of the Department from 1st August, 2019 to October, 2021. She teaches toxicology related courses to both undergraduate and postgraduate students. She has supervised one hundred and five (105) undergraduate students and mentored forty (40) postgraduate students. She continues to mentor the oncoming scientist. She is a member of professional bodies including Chemical Society of Nigeria, (CSN), Institute of Chartered Chemist of Nigeria, (ICCON) and The Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC). She has over fifty- three academic publications in reputable peer review journals.
