OLAYINKA, Oluwafunmilayo Olasumbo

Short Profile

Olayinka, Oluwafunmilayo O. obtained B.Sc in Chemistry (1996) from Ondo State University
Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria now Ekiti –State University, Masters (1999) and Ph.D. (2010) in
Analytical Chemistry from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. She also had a Certificate in
Industrial Effluents Treatment and Residuals Management from the Institute for Water Education,
UNESCO – IHE, Delft, Netherlands (2018). She roses through the ranks to the level of professor of
Analytical and Environmental Chemistry in the Department of Environmental Management and
Toxicology, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Nigeria. She has about two decade of
experience in teaching and training of students. Her research areas of interest are analytical and
food chemistry, environmental pollution, toxicology, health risk assessment and environmental
analysis of heavy metals, organic pollutants such as PAHs – (Polycyclic Aromatic
Hydrocarbons), PCBs- (Polychlorinated Biphenyl), and endocrine disruptors such as nonyl
phenol (NP), bis phenol A (BPA) and phthalate in river, water, soils, air, food, sediment, fish,
electronic waste, plants, beverage and their impact on the environment and health. She has
attended some conferences related to areas of her interest and also served in several committees.
She is a member of some scientific societies like Science Association of Nigeria, (SAN),
Chemical Society of Nigeria, (CSN), Institute of Chartered Chemist of Nigeria, (ICCON),
Environmental Health Scientists Association, Nigeria. (EHSAN) and The Society of Environmental
Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC). She was appointed as the acting head of the Department from 1 st
August, 2019 to October, 2021. She teaches toxicology related courses to both undergraduate
and postgraduate students. She has mentored thirty postgraduate students. She has over fifty-
three academic publications in reputable peer review journals.
