Temitayo Olurin (nee Adeboye) joined the services of Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Ogun State Nigeria in August 29th, 2011. She is a Lecturer II in the Department of Home Science and Management at FUNAAB. She went from pre-nursery through Master’s within and outside of Nigeria. She bagged a First Class honours degree in Home Science and Management (Child Development and Family Studies option). She is a recipient of the first cohort Erasmus Mundus Scholarship for European Master in Social Work with Families and Children (MFAMILY) jointly awarded by University Institute of Lisbon (ISCTE-IUL), Portugal; University of Stavanger, Norway; University of Makerere, Uganda, and University of Gothenburg, Sweden from 2013 to 2015. She was privileged to have obtained a study leave with pay from FUNAAB in the course of her programme in Europe. In the course of her training abroad, she was a Teacher Assistant in the Department of Social Studies, University of Stavanger, Norway for six months. She also obtained her second Master’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies and currently on her PhD in the same discipline.
She is also a recipient of Tertiary Education Trust Fund for a Six month PhD bench-work at the Resilience Research Center, University of Dalhousie, Nova Scotia, Canada.
Mrs Olurin interests is on marginalised families, adolescents and emerging adults in school and care settings engaging in risk behaviours and experiencing mental health challenges with focus on building their resilience and promoting positive development as both preventive and intervention measures. She teaches undergraduate students Introduction to Home Science and Management (HSM 200), Child Abuse and Family Violence (HSM 335), Family Life Education (HSM 309), and Human Development and Child Care II (HSM 420). She has supervised more than fifty (50) undergraduate research projects. She has ten (10) peer-reviewed journal articles, a book chapter and two (2) articles in refereed Conference proceedings published locally and internationally. She initiated a field visits/work for 300 level students on educating primary and secondary students in public and privates schools on their sexuality – Human sexuality is a one of the ten core areas of Family Life education course.
She is a member of the Erasmus Mundus Alumni Association, Society for Research in Child Development, Society for Research on Adolescence and Geographies of Children, Youth and Families Research Group. She also has research linkages with CIES/ISCTE-IUL as a young researcher in Portugal.
