Short Profile

Biological agents, like vaccines, probiotics and prebiotics are so important in preventing and controlling Avian diseases. Dr. Oluwayinka studies the quality of vaccines available for use in poultry production in Nigeria, biological alternatives in Avian disease control and; development and evaluation of alternative recombinant avian disease vaccines candidates. These studies are crucial to better protecting avians from disease outbreaks by improving their immune responses. Dr. Oluwayinka uses several invitro and invivo approaches to carry out such studies including Haemagglutination inhibition test, virus isolation and propagation, Cell/tissue cultures e.g. chicken embryo fibroblast (CEF), duck embryo fibroblast, DF 1 cell lines, T lymphoblastoid cell line Transfection, Cloning of genes, Gene mutagenesis- gene deletion and insertion, Flow cytometry and florescent- activated cell sorting (FACS), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunoflorescent assay (IFA), Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) with gel electrophoresis, Reverse transcriptase PCR (RT-PCR), Quantitative PCR (qPCR), Pyrosquencing, Sanger sequencing, Next generation sequencing, Phylogenetic analysis and animal testings
