Short Profile

Prof. Onashoga joined the services of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta as a Graduate Assistant in 2001 and rose through the rank of a Professor of Computer Science & Information Security in 2019. As an erudite scholar and the first female Head of Department of CSC at FUNAAB, she distinguished herself by her indefatigable Administration, with vast and outstanding achievements.

Prof. Onashoga’s academic interests include data mining, computer security and information management. She has several local and international journals with a higher percentage in computer security. She has attended both national and international workshops, seminars and conferences; facilitated several too in and outside the country. Her current researches focus on applying her research knowledge in computer security (cryptography inclusive) to different domains e.g. privacy-preserving data mining algorithms and secure mobile applications. As a shrewd researcher, she had supervised 15 impacting MSc dissertations and currently have 2 PhD students on her list.

She was visiting scholar to Marquette University and University of Wisconsin (UWM), Milwaukee, WI from 2012 to 2015. She has attracted several national and international recognitions by awards and collaborative activities.

She diligently served NCS Ogun State Chapter as Chairman between 2013 and 2015 and recorded many firsts including the International Conference on Applied Information Technology, the Computer Brains Club and Yele Okeremi Young IT Brains Competitions, the publication of a quarterly bulletin named IT Pathway, patented the multimedia instructional aid for computer studies, just to mention but a few. Her passion for the society brought out the NCS Anthem, which was scripted by her. Her meritorious service to her community and society culminated into her being awarded the IT Woman of the year 2017 by NIWIIT amongst all awards.

She is of course a registered member of Computer Professionals of Nigeria (CPN) and was a Life member of Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) till 2019 when she was eventually conferred as a FELLOW. She equally belongs to other reputable societies like Informing Science Institute, USA, Association of Computing Machinery (ACM), e.t.c. and currently a Council Member of CPN and NCS serving as the South West Coordinator. She loves God and she is morally upright, humorous but firm, dogged and highly resilient. Dr. Onashoga is married and blessed with lovely and promising kids. Her favorite quote is “Give me a place to stand and I would move the whole world” by Archimedes.
