Short Profile

 

Prof. Abimbola Oladele OSO was born to the family of Emmanuel Olalekan Oso on the 1st of February, 1972 at Ibadan, Oyo State. He however attended Christ Apostolic Church Primary School Abeokuta, Egba Comprehensive High School Abeokuta and Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta (FUNAAB) for his primary, secondary and Bachelor degree education. He bagged his Masters and PhD degree from the same University (FUNAAB). Having worked for seven years as an Agric Officer in Ogun State Agro-Services, Ministry of Agriculture, Ogun State, he joined FUNAAB on September 26, 2005 as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Animal Nutrition. Prof Oso rose through the ranks with sixteen (16) years cognate experience and active involvement in research, lecturing and extension to the position of Reader on October 1, 2017 with a current Prima facie case of a Professor.

 

Prof. OSO is an established International Scholar and a Fellow of reputable International Institutes such as Institute of Subtropical Agriculture, Chinese Academy of Sciences (ISA-CAS) and National Institute of Animal Nutrition and Animal Physiology (NIANP), Bengalore, India. He has supervised to date 17 PhD thesis and 41 M. Agric dissertations. He is a member of several University Committees such as Research Policy Drafting Committee, Cattle Ventures, College Screening Committee for Multi-Disciplinary Institutional based TETFUND projects etc. He has won three outstanding international and several Nigerian based grants, served as one time Head of Department of Animal Nutrition and currently the Deputy Dean of the College of Animal Science and Livestock Production.

 

Prof. Oso is an outstanding researcher and Erudite scholar as exemplified by his publication profile. He has published a total of one hundred and thirty five (135) Journal publications comprising 90 Foreign based Journal Articles (cited in reputable index) and 45 Local based Journals. His refereed conference proceedings are published within and outside the shores of Nigeria. He is a member of several professional bodies such as Nigerian Society for Animal Production, Animal Science Association of Nigeria, World’s Poultry Science Association (WPSA), Nigeria Branch and a Registered Animal Scientist with the Nigerian Institute of Animal Science. His research activity focused on evaluation of unconventional feed resources, mineral nutrition, maintenance of gut health, the use of phytogenics in the nutrition of livestock, strategies of combarting feed contaminants and effect of various dietary manipulations on nutrition-related gene expression in monogastric animals.
