Dr. Oluwatosin Juliana Oyetayo is an accomplished academic, researcher, and finance professional with an extensive background spanning banking, policy research, and higher education. She serves as a Reader in the Department of Banking and Finance at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Nigeria. Her core expertise lies at the intersection of development finance, financial inclusion, sustainable finance, economic growth, and microfinance.
Dr. Oyetayo holds a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Benin—where she earned the award for Best Graduating PhD Student in Banking & Finance—alongside an M.Sc. in Finance and a B.Sc. in Economics. Her career seamlessly bridges industry practice and academia; prior to her university tenure, she gained key industry experience in retail deposit growth and credit account management at Capital Bank International, as well as policy research at the Development Policy Centre, Ibadan.
As a dedicated educator and researcher, Dr. Oyetayo teaches undergraduate and postgraduate MBA courses in corporate finance, investment banking, and monetary policy while supervising graduate research. Her scholarly work explores digital financial inclusion, climate fintech, and blended finance in emerging markets, with extensive publications in international peer-reviewed journals. Her research has earned international travel grants and honors from organizations such as The Econometric Society (USA) and the Royal Statistical Society (UK).
She is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (ACIB) and holds certifications in climate fintech, artificial intelligence, and sustainable governance. She is also affiliated with global bodies, including, the Association for the Advancement of African Women Economists (AAAWE), and the Impact and Sustainable Finance Faculty Consortium at Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management.
