Dr. Shittu Olalekan Oluseyi is an academic Researcher in the Institute of Food Security Environmental Resources and Agricultural Research (IFSERAR) and also anchored as a Lecturer in the Department of Animal Physiology, College of Animal Science and Livestock Production, Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta (FUNAAB).. He obtained his B. Agric; M. Agric; and Ph. D degrees in Animal Science with specialization in Animal Physiology from the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta (FUNAAB) in 2002, 2008 and 2015 respectively.
He joined the services of the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta (FUNAAB) as an Administrative Officer II in the Registry on 29th September, 2005 and was re-designated Agricultural Officer I on 1st October, 2009. He rose through the ranks as a Chief Agricultural Officer on 1st October, 2019 and his appointment was thereafter converted to the academic cadre as a Research Fellow II.on 1st June, 2021. His research interest centres on acclimatization, adaptation, Physiological, Metabolic and Hormonal Responses as well as mitigation effects in animals to varying environmental variables in the humid tropics. His Ph.D Research was a nouvell one which focused on the physiological adaptation of the Kalahari Red goats from the arid subtropical zone to the humid tropics of south-West Nigeria. He alongside other researchers carried out crossbreeding to develop the KalaWad crosses and inter-say mating to develop a good breed in terms of milk and meat quality is on-going. His research has resulted in him authoring 14 local and international journal articles as well as 3 national conference refereed proceedings. He is currently supervising 3 Bachelor of Agriculture students research project.
He is a member of the Animal Science Association on Nigeria; Nigerian Society for Animal Production and a Registered Animal Scientist with The Nigerian Institute of Animal Science.
Dr. Shittu, is inspired by his passion for research and is committed to using his research to advance the Society as well as contributing to science development in the best way possible. He has a knack for excellence and a good team player who is devoted to mentoring upcoming young ones in the society.
