Sobayo has over 35 years working experience in the field of animal science and production, both at private and public sectors. NYSC at the National Livestock Project Division, Minna as Livestock Officer (1990 – 1991), Feed mill Manager, S&D Farms Limited, Abeokuta (1995 - 2001), Feed mill Manager, UNAAB Consult/ UNAAB Agro Allied Industry Limited, Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta (2001 – 2006), Lecturer II Federal College of Forestry, Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria (FRIN), Ibadan, Nigeria (2006 – 2007). External examiner to various universities both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Supervised many undergraduate and postgraduate students. He has to his credit over 70 journal articles and referred conference proceedings. Professor and former Head, Department of Animal Nutrition, Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta.

Research focus is in the area of utilization of non-conventional agricultural by-products and phytobiotic additives in monogastric animal nutrition.
