Professor SOGUNLE Olajide Mark is a distinguished Registered Animal Scientist and scholar at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta. His academic and professional career demonstrates sustained excellence in non-ruminant production, livestock systems, research leadership, and university administration. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree from the Department of Animal Production and Health in 1998, a Master of Agriculture degree in 2001 and a Ph.D. degree in Non-Ruminant Production. in 2007.Since his appointment to the University in 2003, Professor Sogunle has rendered meritorious service in teaching, research, postgraduate supervision, and institutional development. He has held several strategic positions, including Acting Head, Department of Animal Production and Health (2014 to 2016), Deputy Dean, College of Animal Science and Livestock Production (2018 to 2020), Programme Leader, Livestock Science and Sustainable Environment at the World Bank Centre of Excellence in Agricultural Development and Sustainable Environment (2021 to 2023), and Director of Academic Planning from 2023 to 2026. His scholarly distinction is further reflected in notable international fellowships and research engagements.
In 2016, he received the prestigious C. V. Raman Fellowship for African Researchers as a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the ICAR-National Institute of Animal Nutrition and Physiology, Bengaluru, India. He also received the Matsumae International Foundation Research Fellowship in Tokyo, Japan, in 2022. In addition, he was a visiting scientist at the University of Hohenheim, Germany, under a DFG project in 2024 and participated in the 2025 1st General Assembly of the China-Africa Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation Alliance in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Professor Sogunle’s research focuses on developing practical and sustainable solutions for rural and resource-poor livestock farmers. His research interests include the evaluation of underutilised feed resources, value addition in animal products, hatching egg and post-hatching performance, poultry housing and micro-environment management, feeding strategies for poultry, pigs and rabbits, and in ovo nutrient 2 injection in poultry. He has published 103 journal articles and 27 refereed conference proceedings in
national and international outlets. He has also supervised more than 42 Ph.D. candidates and 78 M. Agric. candidates, affirming his outstanding contributions to mentorship, capacity development, and the advancement of animal science.
