I am a Chief Animal Health Technologist in the Department of Veterinary Medicine, College of Veterinary Medicine, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB). I hold a Bachelor of Agriculture (B.Agric.) in Animal Production and Health, a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Animal Health, and a National Diploma (ND) in Animal Production and Health. I am currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Animal Production and Management.
In my professional role, I coordinate activities in the Veterinary Medicine Laboratory and participate in practical and clinical classes for students. I provide technical and research support to undergraduate and postgraduate students, assist clinicians in ambulatory services and disease surveillance in rural communities, and support animal health services at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital and Teaching and Research Farms. I also contribute to the supervision and management of the College Farm, collection of biological samples from diseased animals for laboratory analysis, and follow-up evaluation of sick animals.
Through these responsibilities, I have developed experience in field- and laboratory-based research, animal health management, disease surveillance, biological sample collection and analysis, data management, interpretation of research findings, scientific writing, and presentation of scientific information.
My academic and research interests include animal health, livestock production, veterinary medicine, rumen microbiology, and sustainable livestock production. I am particularly interested in factors influencing enteric methane production in cattle. My current research focuses on the enumeration and characterization of rumen methanogens using anaerobic culture techniques and the Most Probable Number (MPN) method, alongside methane analysis using gas chromatography. I am interested in generating research that can contribute to improved livestock productivity and environmental sustainability.
I also have an interest in communicating scientific knowledge in accessible ways to students, livestock farmers, and the wider public. Outside my professional activities, I enjoy sporting activities, particularly racket sports such as badminton, squash, and lawn tennis.
