Professor Regina Ngozi Ugbaja is a Nigerian academic and researcher in Biochemistry, affiliated with the Department of Biochemistry, College of Biosciences, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Ogun State, Nigeria. She holds a B.Sc. degree from the Bendel State University, now Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State, a M.Sc. degree from the University of Lagos, and Ph.D. degree from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State. All the degrees are in Biochemistry. Her academic career is distinguished by her commitment to teaching, scientific research, and the advancement of biochemical knowledge. Her primary research interest is lipidology, with broader research contributions in nutrition, medical biochemistry, biochemical toxicology, oxidative stress, antioxidant mechanisms, and the effects of environmental toxicants on biological systems. Her published researches have examined lipid metabolism and the biochemical consequences of toxic metal exposure and health challenges as well as the protective potential of natural products and antioxidants against tissue damage. Through these investigations, she contributes to scientific understanding of metabolic disturbances and potential approaches to mitigating toxicant-induced injuries and many diseased conditions such as diabetes, epilepsy, and colorectal cancer. She has supervised many M.Sc. and Ph.D. students and has authored over 100 publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals. She has attracted and participated in some research grants, including TETFund-funded Intervention in Research Projects, and has been recognized among the Top 500 scholarly output at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta over the period 2015-2020 (No. 27) and 2017 - 2022 (No. 22), and Top 500 authors by scholarly output in Nigeria over the period 2020-2023 (No. 412). Professor Ugbaja is a member of the Nigerian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (NSBMB), Nigerian Society of Experimental Biology (NISEB) and international societies such as Society of Toxicology (SOT), USA, and Biochemical Society (BS), UK.the Nigerian Society for Environmental Management. She has also served in academic leadership, including as Deputy Dean of the College of Biosciences at FUNAAB for the 2025–2027 tenure. Her academic work reflects a sustained commitment to research, professional development, and the training of future scientists. Through her contributions to biochemistry and related fields, Professor Ugbaja continues to support scientific inquiry and the development of knowledge relevant to human health and environmental well-being.
