VINCENT Olufunke Rebecca 

Short Profile

Professor Olufunke Vincent is a Professor of Computer Science specializing in Artificial
Intelligence. Prof. Olufunke Vincent obtained a B.Sc. in Mathematical Sciences (Computer
Science option) and an M.Sc. degree in Computer Science in 2000 and 2005, respectively, from
the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB). She later proceeded to Germany in
2008, where she did her Ph.D. fieldwork with the Computational Intelligence Group, Clausthal
University of Technology, Germany, and defended her Ph.D. in 2010 in her Alma mata. She did
a Post-Doctoral Fellowship of the TWAS-DFG Cooperation Visits Programme for Scientists
from Sub-Saharan Africa in Germany (2014) and had a certificate in the German Language.

Her research areas include Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Internet of Things, Information
Security, and Telecommunications. Prof. Olufunke Vincent has visited several international
academic institutions for training, workshops, conferences, and research in Germany, the United
Kingdom, India, and Italy. She has won national and international recognition and awards,
including the Federal Government award for postgraduate students in 2003, Ph.D. Research
Fellow in 2008, a Post-Doctoral Fellowship award of the TWAS-DFG Cooperation Visits
Programme in 2014, and a Google Scholar Award in Ranking Web of Universities in
Cybermetrics Laboratory, Spain in 2015. Also, the Academia in Information Technology
Profession bestowed her the Most Distinguished Member in 2018. She also won the Most
Distinguished Staff of Chrisland University in 2019. She was an awardee (Principal
Investigator) of a Research grant from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) in
2021 and Tetfund IBR (Lead Project) in 2022.

Prof. Vincent was the pioneer, Ag. Head of the Department of Computer Science, Chrisland
University, Abeokuta, between Jan. 2018 and June 2019 (on Sabbatical), was also the pioneer
Chairman/Director of ICT of the University. On completing her Sabbatical leave, she received
commendations from the Council and Vice-Chancellor of Chrisland University, Abeokuta, for
her immense contributions to getting NUC's Computer Science Programme approved in
Oct/Nov. 2018 Accreditation and also for introducing two new Computer programs- Cyber
Security and Software Engineering. In FUNAAB, she served as a Congregation Representative
in the Senate from 2019 to 2021. In addition, she is a reviewer for some journals in Elsevier and
Springer.

Prof. Olufunke Vincent is a lecturer at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta. She is a
Fellow of the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), a member of the Computer Professional
Registration Council of Nigeria (CPN), a Vice-President of Academia in Information
Technology Profession (AITP), and a member of Nigeria Women in Information Technology
(Niwiit). She is the present Vice-Chairman of NCS, Ogun state. She is a former member of the
Computational Intelligence group of TU-Clausthal, Germany. She is also a member of the
Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) national and international, the
Association of Computer Machinery (ACM), and the Association of Computer Machinery for
Women.
