The Science Teachers Association of Nigeria (STAN) visited the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), on November 14, 2024, to discuss strengthening their ongoing collaboration and explore further partnership opportunities.
Welcoming the STAN delegation on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Olukayode Akinyemi, conveyed the University’s enthusiasm for working closely with STAN, acknowledging the strong rapport and history of cooperation shared by both institutions.
Prof. Kehinde reaffirmed FUNAAB’s commitment to supporting STAN, particularly in its upcoming 65th Annual Conference. He emphasised that the collaboration aligns with FUNAAB’s Corporate Social Responsibility efforts, aiming to advance science education in Nigeria. He also highlighted the importance of holding in-depth discussions to identify shared goals and build a lasting partnership.
In his remarks, STAN’s Ogun State Branch Chairman, Mr. Abayomi Ononuga, expressed appreciation for FUNAAB’s openness to collaboration. He noted that the visit aimed to strengthen ties and that the Association was eager to see FUNAAB host and sponsor the 65th STAN Conference, scheduled for August 18-21, 2025.
He stressed the key role FUNAAB could play in promoting science education and teacher training in trade subjects across secondary schools, emphasising the University’s expertise and resources in the area as essential to the event’s success.
