In a world grappling with environmental challenges and the urgent need for sustainable solutions, inspiring individuals are stepping forward to make a difference. Among them is a proud alumna of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), whose work is sowing seeds of hope and change for a greener future.
A beacon of innovation and resilience, this trailblazer harnesses the power of agricultural science and environmental stewardship to drive sustainable development in Nigeria and beyond. Her journey reflects the excellence FUNAAB instils in its graduates, combining knowledge, passion, and purpose to transform lives and landscapes.
Meet Temilade Kilaso, a 2016 graduate of Horticulture from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), who is already a leading voice in Nigeria’s green economy. Through her pioneering work in horticulture, landscaping, and environmental education, Temilade is not only transforming physical spaces but also changing lives and mindsets across communities.
In 2018, shortly after completing her Degree at FUNAAB, Temilade founded Lardex Greenery Horticultural Gallery, a forward-thinking horticultural and landscaping company dedicated to enhancing the aesthetic and environmental quality of spaces. Her company focuses on softscape landscaping, creating and maintaining vibrant, green environments using native plants, while promoting sustainability and improving human well-being.
With a strong academic background in horticulture and a Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Lagos, Temilade combines scientific knowledge with artistic flair to execute projects that range from small residential gardens to large-scale commercial landscapes. Her technical competence and innovative approach recently earned her a feature on Channels TV Morning Brief show, including recognition and certifications from respected institutions including Cornell University, Cuso International, and Fate Foundation.
Beyond business, Temilade is a passionate advocate for environmental responsibility. She established the Lardex Greenery Foundation, an initiative committed to youth empowerment through upcycling, climate change education, and sustainable living. By teaching young people how to convert waste into valuable products, the Foundation is equipping the next generation with the skills and mindset needed to thrive in a circular economy. So far, the Foundation has reached over 200 students, leaving a trail of empowered and environmentally conscious young Nigerians.
“I believe that sustainability is not just a concept but a lifestyle,” Temilade says. “Through landscape beautification and upcycling, we can reimagine waste, transform spaces, and heal the planet, one green step at a time.”
Temilade Kilaso stands as a shining example of what it means to be a FUNAABite, innovative, resilient, and committed to creating impact. Her journey is a testament to the transformative power of education and the endless possibilities that come from a passion for nature and community development.
