TETFund BOT Visits FUNAAB, Pays Courtesy Call on VC

The Board of Trustees (BOT) of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), today, May 12, 2025, paid a working visit to the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), to inspect various TETFund-supported projects, even as they engaged with the University Management.

The visit, which took place at the Vice-Chancellor’s Conference Room, featured a Courtesy Call on the Vice-Chancellor by the BOT delegation.

Leading the delegation, Hon. Sunday Adepoju commended the University for its outstanding achievements, stating that the accolades FUNAAB received were well-deserved and a result of hard work and strategic leadership.

According to Hon. Adepoju, “There is something exceptional about FUNAAB, its Management and the quality of students it has been producing. The recognition given to the University was not just handed over; FUNAAB earned it.”

He emphasised the purpose of the visit as an opportunity to see firsthand how taxpayer funds are being utilised. “This visit is not about financial gain. We are here to assess project quality, ensure value for money, and identify areas where further intervention may be needed. The environment in which staff and students operate directly impacts the quality of output, and we want to make sure the right support is in place,” he stated.

Hon. Adepoju further reiterated the importance of accountability, noting that public funds must be used justifiably. “I want to be confident that the allowances we receive are matched by the impact we make, adding real value to the system.”

Responding on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Olukayode Akinyemi, expressed deep appreciation for TETFund’s continuous support and acknowledged the commitment of the BOT to the development of education in the Southwest and across Nigeria.

The Vice-Chancellor extended special gratitude to Engr. (Dr.) Taiwo Lukman, describing him as a dependable ally and friend of the University.

Highpoint was the guided inspection tour of several key facilities, including Prof. Olusola Oyewole Lecture Theatre, Biology Laboratory, Mahmoud Yakubu Lecture Theatre and the 250-seater CBT Centre (Awaiting Computer Installation).

Others were the One-storey Hostel Building (Constructed and Furnished), One-storey extension at the College of Physical Sciences (COLPHYS), and the Centre of Excellence in Agricultural Development and Sustainable Environment (CEADESE).

Present during the visit were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development), Prof. Mufutau Atayese; immediate past Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development), Prof. Kola Adebayo; Bursar, Mr. Olukayode Osinuga; Director, Directorate of Physical Planning, Mr. Kehinde Bamisile and thebDeputy Registrar, Executive Affairs of the Vice-Chancellor’s Office, Mr. Moses Ayanda.

Others included the Deputy Director, Directorate of Physical Planning, Mrs. Odunola Akinsola; Principal Assistant Registrar, VC’s Office, Mrs. Olubusayo Oguntayo, and the Principal Assistant Registrar, DVC’s Office, Mr. Olusegun Adesola, among several other staff members.
