The rank of professorship in the University has been further swelled by three with the promotion of two academic staff and the appointment of an additional candidate.
Both the promotion and appointment were ratified by the University’s Governing Council at its meeting of last Friday, December 17, following the recommendations of the Appointments and Promotions Committee for Academic Staff (APCAS).
The newly promoted academic staff are, Dr. J.A Olowofela of the Department of Physics, who is now a Professor of Solid Earth Geophysics and Dr. J.A Oguntuase, of the Mathematics Department, now a Professor of Mathematical Analysis.
Dr. F.A Taiwo who is a new appointee, was endorsed by the Governing Council as a Professor of Biophysical Chemistry.
The Council also approved the promotion of Dr. (Mrs.) B.O Oduguwa of the Institute for Food Security, Environmental Resources and Agricultural Research (IFSERAR), as a Principal Research Fellow.
Four academic staff equally had their promotion ratified with an external candidate appointed, as Readers.
The new Readers are: Dr. A.O Olorunsanya (Animal Production & Health), Dr. A.O Talabi (Veterinary Medicine), Dr. (Mrs.) O.R Afolabi (Microbiology), Dr. (Mrs.) J.T Bamgbose (Chemistry) and Dr. J.J Atungwu (Crop Protection).
