The four students, sponsored by the University to participate in the 5th World Youth Congress, (Turkiye 2010) held in Istanbul, Turkey, are back, loaded with experiences from the international youth gathering.

In what was described as a lifetime experience by the students, during a chat with UNAAB BULLETIN, TURKIYE 2010, had broadened their horizons by preparing them to be worthy ambassadors of UNAAB and Nigeria at large.

According to the participants, highlights of the congress included taking part in series of activities ranging from motivational talks, skills workshop, round-table discussion, inter-cultural performances and action projects which involved thousands of participants from all over the globe, that came to share their experiences with one another.

The two-week congress, was held between July 31 and August 13, and declared opened by the Turkish Prime Minister, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who was represented by the Minister of State, Faruk Nafiz Ozak.

The Prime Minister stressed the dynamism of the youth as veritable agents for global change, capable of charting a new world order on peace.

The Prime Minister expressed the need for youths around the world to come together and interact with mutual understanding, tolerance and solidarity.

The four UNAAB delegates who thanked the Management, particularly the Vice-Chancellor, for the rare opportunity, are Olatunde Akeem Oderinwale, Best Male Student, 2007/2008 Academic Session; Chioma Patricia Okere, Best Female Student, 2007/2008 Academic Session; Olawale Olaoluwa Faluyi, former Chairman, Male Hostel and Chukwudinma Oluwatoyin Nzene, former Chairperson, Female Hostel.

The World Youth Congress is organised by the Peace Child International, a United Kingdom-registered educational charity that supports young people around the world to produce books, musicals, educational materials, lesson plans, workshops and training courses on major generational challenges they are likely to face in the future.

The first WYC was held in Hawaii, USA in 1999 and the 6th edition is billed to take place in Brazil in 2012.
