The Project Coordinator, Centre for Agroecology and Food Security of the Coventry University, United Kingdom, Professor Phil Harris, has commended the University’s drive towards the development of Organic Agriculture. Professor Harris, who spoke during a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olusola Oyewole, who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Development, Professor Felix Salako, expressed delight at the zeal at which the University had been promoting Organic Agriculture, noting the Coventry University was proud of theit had with FUNAAB.

According to him, through the collaboration “there have been well-funded projects from the British Council, UK government and more recently, from the EU, which has allowed us to gather to develop the subject of Organic Agriculture to the benefits of our two institutions and countries and through the EU project to regionalise and bring in The Gambia, Senegal, Ghana, Benin and Sierra-Leone into the network”.

Professor Harris reminded the Vice-Chancellor of the promise by the University, some years ago, to establish a full-fledged Centre of Organic Agriculture at its Institute of Food Security, Environmental Resources and Agricultural Research Centre (IFSERAR), stating that it would further enhance the development of Organic Agriculture in the country.Responding, the Vice-Chancellor assured Professor Harris that the University would not relent in its effort at supporting activities that would advance the development of Organic Agriculture.
