Pioneer VC, Professor Nurudeen Adedipe

The University Community (UNAAB) will be thrown into celebration mood between Thursday, December 16 and Monday, December 20, 2010, as an Erudite Scholar and Pioneer Vice-Chancellor, Professor Nurudeen Olorunnimbe Adedipe celebrates his 70th Birthday Anniversary.

Adedipe, a Professor of Plant Physiology will clock 70 on Monday, December 20, 2010 amid a well deserved pomp and pageantry.

The Lecturer of Lecturers is not just revered as the Pioneer Vice-Chancellor of UNAAB, he is well regarded for the heart-warming uniqueness of laying a solid foundation, which metamorphosed the University into a model and force to be reckoned with among the nation’s Ivory Towers.

Professor Adedipe’s foresight, sense of purpose and high taste for excellence at all times is to date fingered as the basis for the architectural masterpiece and enviable excellence which dotted UNAAB’s landscape and academic record, respectively.

In appreciation and celebration of “Adediperian Phenomenon”, the University community, led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Oluwafemi Olaiya Balogun, who is celebrated as the “Architect of Modern UNAAB” will be rolling out the carpet to rejoice with the iconic Professor Adedipe.

Activities slated for the birthday celebration commences on Thursday, December 16, 2010 with Special Lecture titled, “Adediperian Thoughts On Contextual Agrology For Nigerian National Development”

The Lecture, which will be chaired by the Legal Luminary, Aare Afe Babalola, SAN, will hold at 3:00p.m at the Julius Okojie Lecture Theatre Complex, UNAAB.

The peak of the celebration is on Monday, December 20, 2010 with a Presentation and Launching of his Memoir (Autobiography) at the Ikorodu Town Hall, Olubi Street, Near Methodist Cathedral, Ita-Elewa, Ikorodu, Lagos, beginning at noon.

Dignitaries within and outside the University are expected to grace the celebration.

They include the University’s Chancellor; Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council; Council Members, Principal Officers; Members of Senate, among others.

The Professor Tunde Idowu-led Ceremonials’ Committee is leaving no stone unturned towards making the celebration a huge success.
