…Call for Members’ Support for Alma Mater

The University’s Alumni Association has called on its members at home and in the Diaspora, to rise up to the challenge of mobilizing support for their alma mater.

This call, came from the immediate past President of the UNAAB Alumni Association, Dr. Benjamin Ayorinde, who was the Guest Lecturer at the UNAAB Alumni Association’s 14th Annual Convention/13th Annual Lecture Series.

Dr. Ayorinde who is the Dean, Student Affairs, Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijebu-Ode, pointed out that the University alumni remain the only group, with the most genuine motive and interest of seeing to the development of the University.

He noted that the alumni of the University not only carry the imprint of the University on their certificates, but also on their alumni personality. According to him, “while other stakeholders represent the soldiers, the alumni are the barrack. So, soldier go, soldier come, barrack remains”.

Earlier in his welcome address, the University Alumni President, Prof. Lateef Sanni, reaffirmed his promises to consolidate on the gains of the past leadership of the association, to stimulate the development of the University.

Describing the UNAAB Alumni Association as a “partner in progress”, the Chief Host of the event, Prof. Oluwafemi Balogun, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development) Prof. Segun Lagoke, challenged the alumni to step up their level of contributions through increased endowment of more projects to their alma mater.

The Chairperson of the Day and wife of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Mrs.) Elizabeth Balogun, described the UNAAB Alumni Association as exemplary, applauding members for their ceaseless support for the University, both in cash and kind.

Prof. (Mrs.) Balogun however urged the association not to rest on its oars, but always aim for the peak.

The high point of the event was the presentation of Awards of Excellence to branches and members of the association for their immense contributions to the development of the association.
