The University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (UNAAB), Ogun State is a cultist-free institution, out of all Universities in the State, Mr. Musa A. Daura, the State Commissioner of Police has said.
The police boss made this remark while playing host to members of the executive of Correspondents’ Chapel, Ogun State Council, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), who paid a courtesy visit on him, in his office at Eleweran, Abeokuta.
He noted that UNAAB was the only University, out of the nine Universities in the State that had never recorded any case of cultism, adding that other institutions should take a cue from the commendable approach by the school authorities at curbing the menace of cultism.
Aside from this, Mr. Daura also explained that his command, from January this year had succeeded in arresting 149 suspected armed robbers in their different locations and recovered 5,230 rounds of arms and ammunition.
While thanking members of the executive of the Chapel for the honour done him through the visit, he promised to assist the Chapel in all ramifications, when the need arose.
Earlier in his address, the Chairman, Correspondents’ Chapel, Mr. Kunle Idowu, said the visit was to familiarize the chapel members with the officers and men of the Command and to solicit their support for members of the Union, while discharging their duties.
Mr. Idowu pledged the Union’s support to the Command whenever the need arose.
