and Ogun State Football Association Secretary,
Mr. Leo Oyenekan, responding to questions from UNAAB Bulletin.

Renowned sports’ administrators and writers have rated the sporting facilities of the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (UNAAB), high.

The facilities, which were used for most of the Games, competed for by nine Universities at the just concluded Preliminaries of the Nigerian Universities Games, Zone-F, were commended by experts in sports, who summed them up as standard.

Those, who assessed the facilities, included the Acting Director, Ogun State Sports Council, Mr. Adesola Faleti and the Ogun State Secretary of the Football Association as well as the representative of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Mr. Leo Oyenekan.

In the same vein, the Head, Sports’ Desk, Gateway Television (GTV), Mr. Biodun Alabi and his Gateway Radio Counterpart, Mr. Gbenga Oshidele, also appreciated the state of the UNAAB facilities.

Speaking with UNAAB Bulletin, the Acting Director, Ogun State Sports Council, Mr. Adesola Faleti, expressed satisfaction with the high level of UNAAB’s sporting facilities, describing them as fantastic.

According to him, “to be sincere, the facilities on ground in this University (UNAAB) are quite fantastic. I didn’t know UNAAB has gone this far. These are standard facilities. I didn’t know we have such here, I am overwhelmed”.

Also speaking, the representative of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), who also doubles as the Ogun State Football Association (FA) Secretary, Mr. Leo Oyenekan, expressed satisfaction at the quality of the sporting facilities, urging the Management of the University to “keep it up”.

For Biodun Alabi, Head, Gateway Television Sports Desk, “UNAAB has the wherewithal, to host not only Nigerian Universities Games (NUGA), but the National Sports Festival”.

Alabi, a seasoned Sports’ Writer and Presenter, described UNAAB Indoor Sports’ Hall as one of the best in the country.

According to him, apart from Table Tennis, the hall is spacious and befitting enough to host related games, such as Taekwondo, Judo and Karate.

Corroborating him, the Head, Sports Desk, Gateway Radio, Mr. Gbenga Oshidele, said with the facilities on ground, UNAAB only needed to complement it with a befitting hotel or guest house.

He said, “When that is done, the University would be opened to patronage by big football clubs, who would be using it as a camp like the popular Obasanjo Farms, Ota, used by the National Football Team”.
